Coptic Cross

The Coptic Cross is steeped in symbolism, with each of its elements holding a special meaning. The slanted lower bar represents the humility of Christ, who came down to earth to sacrifice himself for the salvation of humanity. The shorter top bar represents the inscription that Pilate wrote above the head of Jesus on the cross, which read “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” The two longer horizontal bars represent the arms of Jesus on the cross, and the triumph of the Holy Trinity over sin and death.
